Jar - Covered Counter Jar

This is a large clear glass jar with a glass lid. I believe it was a counter jar of some nature from the old country store - possibly for cheese or pickles? It measures 10 inches wide by 7 inches high. There is some roughness around the edges of the jar and lid and a couple of small chip on the edge of the lid and on the jar. The worst of which I have pictured.
